The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
