The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
