Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
