The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
