The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
