So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
