▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 Warn the men. 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Until the certainty of death had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
