Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
