Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn, 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 The night as it advances, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)? 10 led rebellious lives, 11 and brought about great corruption therein: 12 So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me"; 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 Not at all but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
