The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 A time will surely come when those who are bent on denying the truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God, 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 And they said, “O you upon whom the Qur’an has been sent, you are indeed insane.” 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
