Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity). 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not.
