The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
