The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
