In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
