Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
