And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me. 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
