Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
