The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
