The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
