He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
