The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
