When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
