Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 who sees thee when thou standest [alone,] 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
