The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
