A throng of the ancients 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
