The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
