۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
