Nay, and by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the guilty: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
