The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
