He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
