In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
