And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
