Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists; 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
