The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
