The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
