The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
