The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 Even as We sent down on the dividers 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 About what they used to do. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers 95 Who place other gods besides God. They will come to know soon. 96 We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. 97 When (you feel so) glorify your Lord with His praise and prostrate yourself before Him, 98 and serve thy Lord, until the Certain comes to thee. 99
