S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
