Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
