NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
