The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
