The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No nation can outstrip its term, nor do they put it back. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels, if what you say is true' 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 Indeed We have sent down the Qur’an, and indeed We Ourselves surely are its Guardians. (This is one of the miracles of the Qur’an – no one has been able to change even one letter of its text, despite every effort. It has remained in its original form since the 6th Century (A. D) and will remain so forever. Other Holy Books such as the Torah and the Bible have lost their originality.) 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
