Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
