Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 Till an appointed term, 22 Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If you now have any conspiracy, carry it out on Me. 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
