The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
