The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
