Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." 64 O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Why do you dispute about Ibrahim (Abraham), while the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) were not revealed till after him? Have you then no sense? 65 Behold, you are those who have disputed greatly concerning matters which you knew; why are you now disputing about matters that you know nothing about? Allah knows it whereas you do not know. 66 Neither was Abraham a Jew nor a Christian, but upright and obedient, and not an idolater. 67 Verily the nearest of mankind to Ibrahim, surely those who followed him, and this prophet, and those who believe; and Allah is the Patron of the believers. 68 A party of the followers of the Book desire that they should lead you astray, and they lead not astray but themselves, and they do not perceive. 69 O followers of earlier revelation! Why do you deny the truth of God's messages to which you yourselves bear witness? 70 O People given the Book(s)! Why do you mix the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth, whereas you know? 71
