The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
