He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
