The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
